Tales of a Sommelier - with Nick Mobbs
It will have been two years almost to the day since Nick and Aileen stepped back from the day to day running of the Hotel but we’re thrilled to announce that we have lured Nick out of retirement, away from the golf course and back to Imperial Hotel for a very special evening that we know that you’ll love on Friday 21 March.
We invite you to join us here at Imperial Hotel for ‘Tales of a Sommelier’, an evening of fabulous wine and entertaining insights with the one and only Nick Mobbs, with a delicious three-course dinner cooked by Peter and our brilliant Chefs. For one night only, on Friday 21 March, Nick will share his love and knowledge of wine together with anecdotes from his time as an award-winning Sommelier in what will be an enjoyable and educational event.
As you might imagine, Nick has curated a range of fabulous wines for this event and you’ll taste a generous number throughout the evening together with a superb wine flight selected by Nick to perfectly compliment your three-course meal.

Goats Cheese Mousse
Heritage salt baked beetroot, toasted pistachios, pickled apple balsamic glaze

Braised Skirt of Beef Bourguignonne
Marinated in red wine, accompanied by lardons of bacon d’Alsace, mushrooms, carrots, pearl onions in a rich bourguignonne sauce with horseradish mashed potato.

Rhubarb and Custard
Vanilla set custard, rhubarb poached and gel, rhubarb and custard ice cream,
vanilla syrup, ginger crumb

Tickets for the evening cost £87.50 and include a glass of Cava on arrival, the tasting of six wines, your three-course meal and accompanying wine flight – all in the company of Nick as both your erudite and entertaining Sommelier and Raconteur for the evening.
Of course, with a generous selection of wines on offer you may wish to stay here with us and forgo the taxi home and we’d like to offer you a superb offer on 1 and 2 night stays which include tickets for the event.
